The Bittersweet World of Online Creativity and Community
Creating content online can often feel like a constant battle, teetering on a tightrope between visibility and ostracism. Recently, in my usual haunt where I showcased my work, I encountered an unexpected shove that sent me reeling off my well-worn path. After months of consistent posting—mindful to never overstep the unwritten code of online frequency—I was suddenly banned, just days after relishing in the glow of my highest ever performing post. The justification? Supposedly, I didn't "fit the criteria," despite fitting squarely within the size guidelines provided. It's a puzzling and frankly heartbreaking situation.
Feeling Misunderstood in Niche Spaces
Identifying as a midsized content creator traps me in a perpetual no-man's land. Not sufficiently voluptuous for the BBW (big beautiful women) groups, yet not slender enough to seamlessly slip into mainstream content issues, I find myself eternally questing for a niche that feels like home. The frustration is palpable, and it echoes across many platforms where physical dimensions dictate the boundaries of belonging.
Exploring Alternatives and Expanding Horizons
The advice and support from fellow creators are the silver linings in these situations. Some suggest exploring curvy groups, which strategically sit between mainstream and BBW, potentially offering a more inclusive community. Others advocate for a strategic pivot focusing on different aspects of my persona—perhaps the MILF or foot-themed categories, leveraging different facets of my identity that resonate well within certain circles.
Broadening the Platform Ecosystem
There’s invaluable advice pointing toward diversification—expanding one's digital presence beyond the comfort zone of a single platform. Encouragement to embrace platforms like Twitter, building a robust presence where promotion might be less susceptible to the whims of subjective moderators, is a path worth considering. Even the suggestion of creating my own group sparkles with the promise of self-determined rules and unmediated community engagements.
Persistence in the Face of Adversity
The journey of an online content creator is fraught with challenges, but it's bolstered by a community that empathizes and supports each other. Every suggestion and shared experience stitches a larger, more resilient safety net beneath those of us walking this highwire. While setbacks like bans are disheartening, they're also propellers, urging us to innovate, to find our true crowd, and perhaps even to carve out new spaces where none previously existed.
Thank you to all who have shared a word of comfort or a sliver of advice. The road might be rocky, but it's a lot less daunting with a community as my compass.
